Capturing Life’s Moments
What's in a name?
Growing up, my family had a place on the New Meadows River, where I learned my appreciation for all things Maine. Today, my husband and I live on Meadow Lane and it reminds me of growing up on the river whenever I turn onto our street. When thinking of a name for my business, I knew I wanted to include my roots and pay tribute to new beginnings. I hope to create and build connections with New Meadow Designs.
About the artist
My name is Avery Hutchinson, and I have always been interested in all things art, fashion, and nature. Growing up in the military, we moved around often, but I always found my home base in Maine. My extended family is from here, and I grew up constantly playing dress-up in my mom's old formal dresses and running around outside in the woods. Fast-forward to adult life, and I still want to capture the memories and feelings that beautiful dresses and florals evoke during life-changing moments.
While at the School for Fine Arts at Simmons College and Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design, I learned to work in many different mediums. I also found my art style and love for playing with multiple materials to create layers and depth on paper that capture fabric movement and feel. While working in the fashion industry in New York City, I worked mainly in the bridal world at Vera Wang, Reem Acra and The Knot. After over ten years of working in the bridal industry, it was time to head back home to Maine. My husband and I missed our family, fresh air, and the ocean! After years of creating custom artwork for family and friends while working at my day job, it was time to make a move and do what I love full-time. With lots of encouragement and support from family and friends, New Meadow Designs was born!
I am always happy and excited to collaborate and create new artwork for clients. Sharing my art with others brings me joy, and it is even better when it brings happiness into someone else's life!
